Canadian finance minister Chrystia Freeland introduced the 2023 federal budget on March 28. It offers significant green energy incentives of Can$20.9 billion over six years through tax credits for clean electricity, clean hydrogen, and clean technology manufacturing. However, the budget’s climate initiatives are a mixed bag and serve as a proxy for other half measures. Concerning housing and public sector wages, the budget fails to meet working people’s expectations.
